THE PEOPLE BEHIND IT ALL, ARE TWO DEDICATED WOMEN WHO WANT TO RALLY THE CITIZENS OF ÆRØ IN A THOUGHT-PROVOKING EXPERIMENT...
it all started with an idea - a frustration. A frustration with the way things are; with the fact that it's so damn hard to act sustainably - that all the little things we do feel like mere drops in the ocean or symbolic gestures. There had to be a better way - making a difference together!
Louise Badino laid the foundations of Ærø Eksperimentet with the byline: "Making a difference Together". Louise is known on Ærø as an entrepreneur, a business woman, a real local - and an unstoppable concept developer. Her latest endavour has been the revival of Den Gamle Købmandsgaard in Ærøskøbing, which was also an idea fuelled by frustration and a burning wish to change the way things are.
Maja Ørum - the second half of the duo behind Ærø Eksperimentet, has been an Ærø-islander for 16 years. She owns her own business and has previously worked as a business consultant on Ærø, where she conceived and helped establish Ærø Fødevarenetværk - a grand-scale project that would highlight and promote the importance of locally produced food on Ærø.
These two have joined forces to tailor what has become known as Ærø Eksperimentet. They have mobilized academic specialists and experienced researchers for counsel and documentation.
The financed part of the project is completed, and Ærø Eksperimentet has since then been established as an association with a board. The phlight of the association Ærø Experimentet is to launch and promote green projects and initiatives for regular people who are looking for ways to contribute to the greener good.
