WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO JOIN ÆRØ EKSPERIMENTET?

Ærø Eksperimentet has been off to a great start. We've developed ærøX.dk - a local, ad-free app which enables you to share, swap, trade or give away the stuff that you might otherwise have discarded. The platformalso enables the sharing of knowledge and green projects such as community gardens or how to best sort your waste.

We've also gone into collaboration with Repair Café Danmark and launched the first repair café in Ærøskøbing. A repair café is a place where volunteers gather to help fix stuff that you might otherwise have thrown out; a defective lamp, a dress with a broken zipper, a radio that's gone quiet - you name it. The general idea is that you join the volunteer in repairing, thus making it a social learning experience.

The initiative has since spread to both Marstal and Søby here on Ærø. Our hope is that every town and village on Ærø will eventually have a repair café.

WHO ARE YOU?

We'd like to call on everyone - both on and outside Ærø -to become part of Ærø Eksperimentet!

It doesn't matter whether you're wealthy or merely scraping by - or if you're moderately environmentally conscious or almost religiously green in the way you consume.

What's important is your awareness of our impact on the environment as consumers and your curiosity towards all the little things we can tweak and work around in our everyday lives to counteract it.

Your participation in Ærø Eksperimentet is up to you and your everyday life. Busy as a bee or plenty of free-time? Just pitch in with the time you can spare. Ærø Eksperimentet is organized in such a way that everyone can participate in whichever way they like.

The only criterion for active participation is that you're a registered citizen in Ærø Municipality. All others are welcome to subscribe to our newsletter.

HOW TO JOIN

Joining Ærø Eksperimentet is easy. It requires no prequalifications, no specialized knowledge and no deep insight into environmental matters or green transition. We only ask for whatever time and dedication you can spare.

You may register on our free platform ÆrøX and start interacting with your fellow islanders digitally - or join us every first Wednesday in the month on Ærøskøbing Library between 4 and 6 pm, and participate in our Repair Café.

Please note, that Ærø Eksperimentet's projects are summer-hibernating through July and August.
